Grandma’s Pet Names

December 22, 2014

My grandma never had any pets since I was born, but that didn’t stop her from having pet names.

I believe when she was younger she had a dog and some birds.  I don’t know their names were. When she was older she had a squirrel in her back yard that she would put out food for and flirt with. I don’t think she gave him a name.

But that’s not what this story is about.

This story is about the pet names, or more accurately, the personal nicknames she gave to each one of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  As each one of them came along, she would gift each one with a special nickname she chose specially for each one.

The first grandchild, Susan, she named “Sweet Susan”.  Then came “Jolly Jack”.

One by one, each grandchild, and then great-grandchild that came along, got a special nickname she picked out just for them to describe them or their personality.

Here is a list of them to the best of my ability to recreate them in the order that they came (email me if you have missing names or if a correction is needed):

I imagine there are some great-grandchildren that came along later that sadly would not have gotten a special grandma nickname.  But they still would have been beloved by and received a special nickname from one of the sweetest women you could ever meet.

Thanks for treating us all so special, Grandma!  You’re dearly missed, especially at Christmas time.

Love,

Eager Eddie
